Career Services Office

Career Services Office
The Career Services Office is here to bridge the gap and facilitate the transition of our students and alumni from their studies to the job market. It supports them throughout their academic journey to help them shape their professional future, discover their skills, and secure a job in today’s competitive job market. It does this by providing career counseling services and organizing Career Days and other events designed to bridge the gap between the worlds of academic studies and the job market. Working in collaboration with a broad network of companies throughout Greece and abroad, it stays informed about available job openings and, in turn, informs students and alumni about employment opportunities. It develops partnerships with institutions and organizations for the benefit of students and graduates, provides information on graduate programs, and informs them about available scholarships and endowments in Greece and abroad.
At the core of the services provided by the University of Thessaly’s Career Services Office are those of career counseling, delivered by a specialized career counselor (Chrysa Voulgari – MSc in Counseling & Career Guidance / ASPAITE Annual Specialization Program in Counseling & Guidance – PESYP / MSc in Educational Leadership & Administration). Our students and alumni can receive information and support regarding the following topics:
- Academic counseling: graduate school applications / personal statements / resumes for graduate studies / graduate school admission interviews
- Career counseling: job search techniques / resume for employment / cover letter / job interview / information on current trends in the job market and the importance of developing soft skills as well as lifelong learning
- Individual career counseling / telecounseling (primarily for students and graduates who are not in Volos) / personalized program for assessing educational needs and developing an action plan.
During individual sessions, the student or graduate discusses with the counselor the issues that concern them and relate to their educational and professional path, such as difficulty in choosing a graduate program, making career decisions, or searching for a job. By developing a relationship of mutual trust between the counselor and the client, the student or graduate is able to receive support on their journey of self-discovery, to identify their personal inclinations, interests, and needs, and to align them with existing opportunities in the job market. Essentially, this facilitates decision-making regarding their educational and career choices. The individual counseling process also helps the client define and pursue their career goals, as well as plan and implement a personalized career action plan.
Our students and alumni can schedule an appointment with the career counselor (Chrysa Voulgari) by emailing: chrvoulgari@uth.gr">chrvoulgari@uth.gr, stating their request, and she will respond immediately regarding availability.
